From time to time we all witness a masterpiece album that just blows us away, and all we have to say about it is... "All I Want is More"!!! This album, "Turn the Radio Off" did that very thing to me. I received this CD as a gift for Christmas. I had heard the single "Sellout" on the radio and was taken back immediately about how crazy it was. And the coolest thing was... the song actually had meaning. Well here I am now, a Reel Big Fish fanatic. I love to just sit around and reflect on their "poetry" and how meaningful each and every song it is. Sure the songs make fun of people, and are very cynical, but yet it is all true. It's kinda like you live in a hick town and you are reading a bunch of "You might be a redneck if..." jokes. The first track, "Sellout" is the ever-so-popular single that endured lots of radio play a few summers ago. This song is about a kid who works at a fast food joint and sells out to become a big rock star, the thing about it is that he gives up everything because he sees something better. Now I'm sure we all know people like this. The second track is about confoming to the rock 'n roll of Reel Big Fish. But in all seriousness, I'm sure we all know people, or are a person, who buy the Tommy clothes just to fit in. Whatever. Get a life people. "Join the Club" is about exactly what the name implies... And the fourth title also enjoyed radio play, but I won't go into details about what the song is about. The CD contains a single Beer, which was included on the "Baseketball" soundtrack along with the cover of "Take On Me" originally by A-ha! NOTE: "TAKE ON ME" IS NOT CONTAINED ON "TURN THE RADIO OFF"! "241" is a delightful, completely ska sound that has the boyz screamin 241 every now and then in the background. "Everything Sucks" is a AWESOME track that makes you want to get in your car and drive really groove-ily! "S.R" has no meaning. "All I Want is More", take a guess. "Nothin'" has nothin' to do with anything. "Say 'Ten'" is about a vegetarian and how that's not fair to the vegetables. "I'll Never Be" describes very in-depthly the struggles that are encountered to become a rock 'n roll star. "Alternative Baby" is the story of my life, figure it out for yourself. And finally, "I'm Cool"! This is the Reel Big Fish theme song, you will find it on all of their albums... I guess this is the first version because it KICKS BRASS out... Just some punk slammin on his guitar! :-). |
